PATH Program

WHY?

It is obvious to state that youth are the future for every family, community, country, and ultimately, the planet. At Flame we are fully aware of this and are actively working towards raising up leaders from the youth of urban poor families. The PATH program has been set up to specifically target their needs in order to see them launching into leadership roles in their families and communities and beyond.

WHO?

Teenagers need a different program to the younger children in the After School program and PATH is targeted specifically to them. By the time Flame kids have passed their grade 6 exams, they can read and write well and have a solid mathematics foundation. They are able to study by themselves but because urban poor families don’t have any finances to spare for extra study, many young teenagers from urban poor communities lack the opportunity to receive training in computer and English language.

WHAT?

To meet this gap, the PATH youth clubs will focus on English and computer lessons. These two skillsets are necessary for their advancement in study at university level as well as giving them more opportunities in the job market.

It will also provide targeted training in youth clubs around emotional health and the life skills necessary to navigate their teenage years confidently and well.  Youth camps are held twice each year and are great opportunities for stronger connections and deeper conversations with the youth in that setting.
