After School centres

WHY?

A solid educational foundation in the early years of education is imperative for success for any student. Research has shown that the majority of teenagers in Cambodia drop out of school after 6th grade because they are unable to read and write, and don’t know basic maths. Not having this foundation means they are unable to follow the lessons at the higher grade level.

WHO?

Children of the urban poor who maybe behind their age group level in the public schooling system and who will embrace the opportunity of catching up in their education.

WHAT?

For children in Grades 1-6, classes are given in Khmer language reading and writing, and basic maths as well as some craft activities. This helps the children excel at school. It is invaluable tuition for children who may have missed years of schooling due to poverty in their family. The program provided in the After school centres goes a long way towards helping them to catch up (and pass) their peers.
