Sport

WHY?

Sport provides a physical outlet while at the same time giving regular time spent with our staff and volunteers. Flames sports teams are a great bridge between the teenagers in the PATH program and our young adults in university, who are the coaches and mentors.

WHO?

Our target audience is:

1.     Kids who love to play sport

We have 6 Football teams with 135 players, 40 of whom are girls. The players come from each of the four areas in Phnom Penh where Flame operates an After School Program.

2.      Young leaders who volunteer as coaches and mentors

Every coaching time and game time begins with a “huddle” where our staff and young adults volunteer their time to share their own life stories and listen to the issues that the team members are facing.

WHAT?

Sport, as well as the obvious physical benefits, allows us the time and space to share our hearts and lives with teenagers in an informal setting. It also means that we can make deep connections with the teenagers outside of the slums and its many social issues.
