Taking medical care to poor communities
Rithy is a young adult who has recently qualified as a doctor, and is now training in his specialty, obstetrics. He knows exactly what it’s like to live on the streets, because as a child he was homeless. Mobile Medical is his initiative. He runs free clinics at our Flame centers and the poor communities where Flame works as his heart beats for the most destitute of the city.
Sothy is a 7th year medical student who also lives at the Leadership Academy. His passion is providing medical care to the poor and those who otherwise have no access to healthcare. When he was a child his family lived in rural Cambodia where there were no medical facilities.
We take the small van to the poor communities around the city and deliver basic medical care, and also talk about nutrition, the importance of breast-feeding, or whatever else comes up, covering primary healthcare needs.
In response to the needs of young babies who are failing to thrive, we have an initiative providing milk powder to help these little ones get through their first year, and are looking at providing additional care for pregnant women
