Book TUk tuk

To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.
— Victor Hugo, Les Miserables

Slums are not known for having vast amounts of books, …actually ANY books. When providing food and water is a struggle, books are not going to be on any slum living families shopping list.

When you read to a child, a child will read

Flame operates a mobile library that visits 8 slums every week, reading to children, teaching basic Khmer alphabet and identifying children who are not in school but would dearly love to be. The Case Management team step in and work with the family facilitating their child to be enrolled back into the Government education system.

The Book Tuk Tuk project is a partnership between Flame and St Pauls Collegiate in Hamilton, New Zealand.
